IKIGAI Revealed... the JAPANESE Way to Finding Purpose and Meaning in Your Daily Life!

Ikigai is a greatly misunderstood concept, with many people thinking it is the purpose framework involving doing something you love, being good at it, while serving the world, and getting paid for it.
Ikigai is NOT a sweet spot where everything in your life merges for you to suddenly find happiness, purpose, and financial success.
What is Ikigai?

Simply put, IKIGAI indicates the source of value in one's life, the things that make one's life worthwhile.
On a deeper level, IKIGAI is essentially the process of cultivating your inner potential and that which makes your life significant. It is a universal human experience that we all desire.
Finding Your IKIGAI Can Change Your Life!
For the Japanese, finding your Ikigai is the most honorable and rewarding thing one can do. It’s the key to a long and happy life. Ikigai is something you can have, feel, search for, and find. You know you’ve found it when you’re waking up every morning excited to start the day.
If you are working a job that you despise or living an uninspired life, then it’s time to find your Ikigai.

KAMIYA MIEKO - THE MOTHER OF IKIGAI PSYCHOLOGY
Kamiya Mieko was a doctor, authored hundreds of medical papers, and worked as psychiatrist treating patients who suffered from leprosy. She was even a private tutor to Princess Mishiko, who would later be the empress consort of Japan.
She could be considered the Mother of Ikigai Psychology. It is in her influential book and other published works that we can discover what ikigai is and how it can help us find meaning and value in our lives. A cornerstone of Kamiya's ikigai psychology was the satisfaction of what she identified as the eight ikigai needs.

CHANGING YOUR LIFE IS NOT ABOUT TAKING MASSIVE ACTION
Finding meaning and purpose in life is not about "unleashing your power" or "awakening your giant within" or "taking massive action" - it's about understanding who you are, reflecting deeply on what you want in your day-to-day life, and then making small habit changes.
Ikigai is not the fist-pumping, chest-beating, self-help guru nonsense of "sucking the juice out of life" to have anything and everything you want. And it's not the ra-ra tactics of feeling good about making dramatic life decisions and setting near-impossible goals to achieve and then announcing them to the world.
Ikigai is the process of cultivating one's inner potential and that which makes one's life significant by living a life of day-to-day purpose in service to the people who define you.
