Cultivating Ikigai Through Diverse Experiences

In this video, Nick Kemp explores how embracing new experiences can enhance your sense of ikigai. He explains how engaging more with the world helps you develop a deeper connection with your body and overall well-being, leading to a more fulfilling life.

Having intimacy with nature

Nick: I can relate, I often describe ikigai as, like intimacy, we can have emotional intimacy, intellectual intimacy, obviously physical, but we can have an intimacy with nature. So definitely, I feel it can be described as a type of love.

And I guess if we frame it in disembodied perspective, a good advice would be to say, go out more, have more experiences, meet more people, do different things, and try to tune into your bodily awareness with each experience.

I think in today's world, we're not doing that; we're spending a lot of time in front of the TV or our screens. I mean, as a child, you probably played outside a lot. I used to ride my bike or play street cricket or street football. And I just don't see kids doing that anymore.
