In this video, Nick Kemp talks about the simple yet powerful benefits of stepping outside for a short daily walk, even without a full exercise routine. By spending just 10 to 20 minutes outdoors each morning and taking a break from devices and the artificial world, the mind and body can experience noticeable positive effects.
Escape the confines of the artificial world
Nick: The Japanese people love and recognize the importance of nature, but Japan's also a pioneer of gadgets and technology. And I guess in the last 40 years, many Japanese have left nature or the countryside to live in cities. I remember going to Japan and just there was so many gadgets, and Japan seemed to be the pioneer of gadgets.
This is interesting, because another problem, and this goes back to this problem of adding, is a lot of people when they exercise, they do take their phone or they have an Apple watch. They're fixated on how many steps they've done, and they have to reach 10,000 steps. And that kind of adds that layer of stress again.
So I think, even if you don't exercise, if you just decide to walk 10 minutes, 20 minutes outside every morning, and you free yourself from the artificial world or at least your devices, it really has this positive impact.
And I kind of wake up and the first kind of craving is not food, it's this craving to get outside, and it's just walking, and it's just walking for 10, 20 minutes. And then I have my coffee, and I really enjoy that. And then I look at my phone, and then I start my computer.
