In this video, Nick Kemp discusses the tranquility he discovered in focusing outward, living in the moment, and embracing the slower pace of life. Despite challenges—like running his own English school and juggling responsibilities—he found peace in Japan's culture and the harmonious nature of relationships.
The calm and mindful culture of Japan
Nick: I think in Australia, we're probably a bit more laid back. But I certainly did find more peace and more realizations of how we can take this slow way or, at times, I just didn't seem to worry. I think what I learned from Japan and Japanese people was there's no need to talk things up. There's no need to self promote, there's no need to push and compete.
I can just relax and be myself. Focus on the external, and also be more in the moment. I certainly had many challenges in Japan, I had my own English school, I had lots of other things I was juggling. But I think overall, I do find this tranquility and peace in Japan. There's far less conflict in relationships that I found.
